Our genealogy community lost a real gem today.
I am sad to report that hours ago Susan Old of Cornwall passed away.
Susan was extremely well-known by most who have done any work on their family histories and genealogy in Cornwall. She was active until recently as the Online Parish Clerk for St. Columb Major, St. Merryn, St. Ervan, and other Parishes, the Old Cornwall Society, the Cornwall Family History Society, and was undertaking the reconstruction of all the parishes in the Hundred of Pydar.
Funeral and memorial details are yet to come, but I am sure you will join me in sending prayers and best wishes to the family, friends, and colleagues of Susan’s. As soon as there is an obituary available I will post that here as well.
Personally, I lose a friend and a mentor. Susan was instrumental in my earliest work on the Phillipps family work and in understanding genealogy and family history in Cornwall. She was a truly giving and helpful genealogist. A model for us all!
Rest in peace, Susan and thank you for all you did for so many.
Onward To Our Past,
Scott
